  1. The houses long ago were built of mud and stone. This is how the walls were made. First a layer of mud was put up about a foot in height next day a layer of rushes was put up and then trampelled. This work was continued until it was finished. Then the was was evened. Then it was roofed with bog deal timber and the [?] of the bog was put up in that and it was thatched with rushes. The fire was put at the gable end always,
