I live in the Parish of Duagh in the Barony of Iracto Connor in the townland of Rathoran.
There are eleven families in my townland and there are eighty people in these families. Some of the houses are slated and the rest are covered with thatch.
This is how it got its name. Rath means fort and music used be heard in the fort and it was called Rach amhrán and the English for it is Rathoran.
There are two old people over seventy in Rathoran Mrs Twomey and Con Murphy and both of them have a good knowledge of Irish.
The land is reclaimed bog and a share of it arable.
