  1. Well to do farmers killed their own meat, cows and sheep.
    The meat was eaten salted once or twice weekly, Sunday's dinner being one.

    Fifty years ago this district produced all the necessaries of life. The County had its corn-millers, flax dressers, tanners, shoe-makers etc. etc.
    The railway connection to Mallow made the way easy for the drummers of British, German, American shoddy fashions
