    the table was placed in the middle of the floor, but if the family was small it was placed by the wall.
    Some well to do families had meat on Sundays.
    Tea was almost unknown up to about eighty years ago.
    An ounce of tea was bought at Xmas, and if any was left over after the Xmas supper it was kept over until Easter. No tea was bought until Xmas came round again.
