There are two forts in the townland of Rathoran, the two are in view of each other and there is an underground tunnell connecting them.
One is "circular" and there is a fairy story about it.
About 150 years ago there lived near it a man named Richard O Connor and he was a prosperous man and 15 fine cows. Year after year his cows died until there was only 1 left, a black spotted cow which he called Cruaibe. Before the cows died they were always seen in the fort and always died there. "Seadh" says he to his wife "I'll keep Cruaibe out of it". On going to the fort he met a little man and said "this is my cow and I am taking her home". Oh said the man "she is our cow".
