In olden times there were quack doctors in almost every district who prescribed cures for minor diseases.
Tooth-ache was cured by putting a frog's leg into the mouth.
Earache was cured by applying a roast onion.
Mumps - by applying a poultice of hot chicken weed.
Whooping Cough was cured by eating food left ones by a ferret.
    To stop bleeding
An herb called Slánlus was applied or the pith of rushes.
