A man named Tady Buckley who lived in Rea Islandanny walked to Abbeyfeale a journey of three miles with a calf a day old on his back and the calf's four legs tied. When he arrived in Abbeyfeale with the calf he was not satisfied with the price he was getting and he heard that calves were dearer in Newcastle west a town ten miles from Abbeyfeale and he put the calf on his back again and walked to Newcastle and sold the calf for 6 pence more, and came home the same day.
