  1. One of the biggest floods within memory of oldest man occured about year 1888.
    The bridge leading from Islandanny to Duagh was at that time under construction and was almost completed it crumpled like pack of cards and a great deal of tember used in construction was swept into the river Shannon fortunately it occured on Sunday so that men engaged in its construction were not there.
