    Long ago people used keep a gallon of water inside every night for the good people. There was a girl working in a farmer's house and every night she had to go to the well for a gallon of water. One christmas night the girl went late to the well she saw some white thing in the bottom of it but she said nothing about it. When she came home there was a woman with a child. They all went to bed. The woman that got lodgings never slept. About twelve o'clock
