“There was a bank in Listowel and it was known as Roche's bank.”
There was a bank in Listowel and it was known as Roche's bank. The notes this bank issued was three and ten pence. There was a race meeting one day and Shawn was inside in a tent with one of his friends who was called Bel Shammy (a nickname) Shawn got one of the notes and copied it out. According as the notes were copied they were spent. Shawn is said to have made forty of them. Then he got too drunk to make any more. It is not known what happened Shawn over this but he and his friends had a royal day.
