  1. I. Strong man: -
    Joseph Sweeney of Carrueragh, Knockanure, who died in the year 1900, aged 80 years was a strong man. He used to bring a twenty stone bag of meal from Listowel to carrueragh on his back. He used to throw the half hundred weight thirty feet at Knockanure sports twenty years ago.
    II. Great Runner: -
    John Flaherty of Gortdromagowna, Knockanure, is living still and is aged 40 years. He is a great runner. He used to run a hundred yards in twelve seconds at Duagh sports.
    III. Great Walker: -
    Patrick Madigan of Boglane, Knockanure, who died in the year 1927 aged 84 years used to walk from Duagh to Listowel, and out to Kilmorna every morning for the six days of the week,
