Sheon Burns died in about 1877 and was 60 years or so. He had a home in a place called Burns's wood in the parish of Duagh not far from the borders of Knockanure. He often visited Knockanure when he was being hunted by the Police. He was a man of giant frame, undaunted courage, and horse'e strength.
During his time there were a peace-commissioner and Police in Duagh. On one occassion a Tipperary Policeman was stationed in Duagh. He was a great strong man, and he often mocked the other Policemen, how it was that it took two of them to arrest a man. He said that there was not a man in Limerick nor in Kerry but he would arrest single-handed. The peace commissioner "Galway" came to hear of Burns. He sent for him and Burns came. They got talking and during the conversation Galway said to Burns "Now I'll give you two glasses of whiskey, if you will beat the(continues on next page)
