  1. In this parish there is a townland called Gortdromagowna, and some years ago when motorcars were very seldom seen, the people near the road would stand to see every car that came the way.
    One day an old man who lived near the road was crossing the road. He had a lot of hens and some of them followed him and were picking around when a motor car drove by and killed eight of them. The driver stopped the car, and came back to see the amount of damage he had done. The old man told him that he had killed eight
