    Some time ago there lived a boy whose name was Dick Whittington.

    After coming out of the ship he went to the King's palace. When he went into the (palace) room where the King was it was full of rats. The King asked him had he anyway of getting rid of rats and he told him that he had an animal that would kill them. He went to the ship and brought the cat into the room and he killed the rats. The King was delighted and made a rich man of him. When he came home the people welcomed him
