    About eighty years ago there was a Hedge school in Michael Hanrahan's field in Kilbaha. It was an old mud house and it was owned by Tom Price the teacher. The subjects taught were Sums, English reading, Geography, and Grammar. The children who were attending the school paid the teacher. They used write on slates with chalks which they got in the quarry.
