A great snow storm occurred in the month of February 1893. Sheep were lost belonging to Patrick Hanrahan and John Stack. The snow was over twenty feet on the ground. It was coming in the key hole in Dan Mulvihill's house. It commenced on a Friday evening and lasted until Saturday evening. The snow was to be seen on the mountains for three months after. People who had little food had to go to the village for small quantities because the animals could not travel.
