  1. The roofs of the houses long ago were made of straw which was got from wheat and oats.
    But in some houses they used to be made of skraws and sedge which was got in the bog.
    In the corner of the kitchen long ago there used to be a bed which the old woman of the house used to sleep and it was always called the caileach bed or the Hag's bed.
