  1. A good many years ago the fairs in Oughterard used to be held in the "Fair Green" which is a green garden in Claremount, by the side if the Connemara road.
    After that it was changed to a field by the side of the "New Quay" road. Now it is held in the Cross. The field near the New Quay road was called "Páirc An Aonaigh".
    A few years ago the buyers used to go around from house to house in the country, buying. There are more fairs held here now than there were long ago.
