- 256Churning1. We have a churn at home, it is called the "cuinneog."
2. It is three feet in height.
3. We have it twelve years.
4. The different parts are, the lid and the "claibin."
5. They put a coal under the churn when churning "for fear"
the fairies would bring the butter.
6. We make a churning twice a week in Summer and once
a week in Winter.
7. My mother that makes it.
8. When a stranger comes in he has to give a dash to the
churn for fear he might bring the butter.
9. He would not get a coal, because he might steal the
butter.
