  1. There was a house once and the people of the house used to stay up late at night. One night they got a signal to get off the hearth. One of the men slept in a loft over the kitchen. He was not gone to sleep when about twelve a clock a big crowd of fairies came in. They commenced to dance. One of the fairies looked up in the loft, and said that Martin was looking down. There was a piper sitting in the corner. He was playing on the back pipes. He stood up and walked up the ladder and Martin went to sleep and saw no more.
