  1. Long ago there lived a widow and she had one son and he was silly. One day she sent him for a needle to a neighbour house and when he was coming home he was carried on a load of hay and he put the the needle in the load of hay and he could not get it. When he went home his mother told him the next time he got a needle to put it in his jacket.
    The next day she sent for a pound of butter. When he got the butter he put it in side his jacket and when he went home it was all melted. His mother told him that he should have put it in between two leaves of cabbage.
    The next day she sent him for a can of water and he put the water between two leaves of cabbage and
