  2. This was made for the purpose of hanging it from the roof on the inside of a house (at a wake) fasten a candle on the extreme end of the cross. See sketch. One stick 5 or 6 ft long, & a cross made of two other sticks. A hole was in the end of each stick and a candle placed in each hole. A rope was on end of perpendicular stick and this was fastened to the roof (at the end above of the house)
