    Owen Croghan: was a famous blacksmith: He had his forge in Mick Collins's field Later on Jim Lyons and his brother Pat erected a forge near their own house. A forge is still there.
    Mary Keane was a great dressmaker in Fartown.
    Miss Lennon: was another dressmaker in Friaryland.
    Shoe polish: of long ago was not like what we have today. The soot dust was scraped off the pot and mixed with a little water and then put on shoes.
