    Young men and maidens
    I pray lend an ear
    As I am locked up in a dismal cell
    The truth I will declare.
    Its a false and wicked woman
    That fell in love with me
    And for the sake of £20
    With her I did agree.
    To murder my companion
    With her I did prepare
    And with her blood I owned to God
    My hands I did bespear.
    With a knife I pierced her heart
    As she lay on her bed
    And with a bloody weapon
    I then cut off her head.
    Her infant it kept crying
    As it lay on the floor
    I threw it on a blazing fire
    And soon it was consumed.
