- The local fairs are held in Carrick-on -Shannon, Leitrim, Mohill, Drumsna and Croghan. They are all held on the streets. Buyers still transaction business in the country in farmers' houses. Toll is paid in all the local towns.
It varies according to the kind of animal sold.
When an animal is sold luck money is given.
It is called "luck penny".
It is about 2/6 for each animal. Buyers shake hands with the sellers when they make a bargain.
Animals are usually marked with mud or a raddle when they are sold.
The rope is given away with the animal when it is sold.
Pig and cattle fairs are held in all the local towns.
