  1. In Dublins fair city lies Jim Connelly the brave
    No tombstone or tablet to mark o'er his grave
    Yet his bones they lie mouldering in the old castle yard
    Where and soldiers are tramping on guard
    II
    In the county of Monaghan this hero was born
    He sailed to America his fortune to earn
    After three long years he returned once more
    To raise a Republic in his own native shore.
    III
    In Dublins fair city as he wandered his way.
    He told all his comrades of the near coming day
    When our flag we'll unfurl and a republic we'll proclaim
    And we'll hoist on every hilltop the banner of Sinn Féin.

    At twelve o clock sharp brave Connelly was on the spot
    He captured the post Office at the firing of a shot
    T'was a splinter from the Germans caused Jim Connelly to fall.
    In dying and and bleeding in quivering in pain
    he said boys die like heroes for the cause of Sin Féin
