- La Touche came to Ireland after the French Revolution. He bought the estate from "Gore". Gore retired to the present seat in Co. Sligo Lisadell. The Gores came to Ireland in some of the earlier plantations than Cromwells and were here 1641 and Sir Charles Coothe visited it.
They lived in Drumharney. The old house disappeared about one hundred or more years ago and La Touche built what we see today.
Tennyson of Kilronan and La Touche had law over that "Island" in Deffier.
La Touche had two bad bailiffs. McKeon already referred to and Nickson.
Booly Taylor was a gamekeeper.
At that time the game hares and rabbits could eat your cabbage and you could not say a word.
The Island in Deffier was and is by old people yet called "Inish Gore".
