  1. Come all ye loyal comrades and listen for a while
I'll sing for you a verse or two in praise of Willie Doyle
And likewise Andy Forrell and all the chosen men
Saying now we'll have to go to work the Stanking is coming in
Up comes then Tom Shanby and he made a horrible rout
Then he cursed Mc Tiernan that made another shout
I would not wish for all we earned all the while
To have the flood of water upon brave Willie Doyle
Up comes Andy Farrell and challenged all our men
Up come James Crawford and caught him by the chin
Then Andy shook all over and trembled then with fear
He fight no more upon this shore I'll tell the Engineer
Up came young Hughie and said it was not worth your while
We never will tell a man except brave Willie Doyle
Then Andy sat upon the bank and there he cried his fill
Saying we never did get hardship till we come to Crawford's mill
