    Row on my hearty comrades the wind is blowing high
    And if we do not gain the land we certainly will die
    Soon death made its appearance and darkness fell from the sky
    Some people near the harbour soon heard a dismal cry
    Early the next morning the news went up and down
    Till it reached the town of Corry which was their native ground.
    And such a deadly slaughter in the country ne'er was found
    As that evening in Strawbraden where such a crowd was drowned.
    The wild fowl of the ocean no m ore will go ashore
    The black birds and the thrushes[?] will forsake Mount Allen's shore
    The trees in June no more will bloom but shall wither and decline
    Since Johnny and his comrade boys took lodging in Kilbride
