named Red[?] Pat Mc Rann that lives in Drumlegere townland. He says that McManus challenged a ghost near the Blackrock spring. The ghost appeared in the form of a bag of wool. He was not able for the ghost. His clothes were soaked in blood, and yet there was not a scratch or a cut on his body.
McManus whistled for McRann's bull dogs. The two dogs came and were not able for the ghost. A third dog came and the ghost vanished.
McManus never knew who owned the third dog [underlined]. He got to McRann's house and told the story. He wanted to go out again and the dogs stopped him.
The two dogs died the next day.
Shortly after this the turkey cock appeared and annoyed McManus.
McManus died in Scotland at a fairly old age. It is not known if the turkey haunted him to the last.
