    The oldest families in Deffier are the Gibbons and the Lynchs.
    The fact of Bartley Gibbon's marriage with the White Captain's sister accounts for the bringing in of the Lynch family.

  2. If I were to give a list of the old Fenians of Corderay area the number might equal the number of men in the 1916 rising.
    Three men for a fact went to Wicklow for the 67 rising.
    They were two brothers by the name of Lynch from Deffier descendents of the "White Captain" and one other man named Moffit. Moffit would be the grand uncle of the present day Bartley.
