    The White Captain was the nickname given to this old '98 hero because of his White Hair and White Horse.

    The White Captain was the nickname given to this old '98 hero beause of his White Hat and White Horse. His name was Lynch and early in life he "joined the brave United Men". The home of the Lynchs was some where on the side of Slieveinearainn[?] mountain near the townland of Aughagrania. Lynch was in Humberts train on the march to Ballinamuck and was lucky enough to escape with others from this part. The Carolls and Murray boys and also the Mc Tiernans of Glan were
