My Grandfather told me the following stories relating to butter taking. Mrs McGovern who lived in the townland of Glann, never could get any butter off her milk. She went to St [blank] well in Keadue and brought with her a large bottle of milk. On arriving home she had only a half pint of milk and the rest butter. From that on she had plenty of butter. A country woman named Mrs McLoughlin was churning one morning in April. and a man passing by went in for a coal to light his pipe. He went out with
