he saw coming towards him a young girl. He took her and threw her into the lake. He then threw out a sod after her and the tradition is that this sod formed one of the islands on the lake.

On Lough Allen there are two islands known as Innis Fail and Innismagrat. On Innis Fail there is the remains of the ruins of an old church supposed to have been founded by Columcille. On the other island are the ruins of a church founded by St Boey.
