    Twelve Days of Christimas:
    Old people used say that the twelve days of Christmas represented the twelve months of the year. If those days were good they believed that the twelve months would be good.
    New Year's Day
    The coming of a woman as first visitor to a house on that day, was regarded as unlucky omen. Still greater alarm was caused by the appearance of a red haired woman.

  2. 16th January 1938
    Thomas Mc Grail (dead) Tullynapurtlin, Dowra, carried a bale of cloth 40st weight. He would be about 100 years old now, had he lived.
    Frank Flynn, (dead) Derinageer, Dowra once chased a hare and caught it. He would be 90 yrs old now, had he lived. He was a good flute player and dancer.
