On May day people think it is unlucky to either borrow or lend, as they would give away their luck.
Ashes and dust are not thrown out in the rubbish heap on May-day.
Any "increase" on May-day is not supposed to live, for example, if a young calf arrives on that day he will soon die.
It is unlucky to meet a red-haired woman when one is going a journey - especially to a fair; likewise a white horse is counted an ill omen.
It is also unlucky to spill salt or to break a mirror - if a person accidentally breaks a mirror he will have seven years bad luck.
