  1. It is a superstition to throw May flowers about the streets on May eve.

    It is a superstition to tie red tapes on the cattle tails on May Day.

    Another is that no tools or other things belonging to the house should be given away May Day.

    No butter or milk should be given away on May Day.

    People say if you mix Spring and Summer milk it will be very hard churned.

    If there is a hare running from cow to cow on May morning the butter will be taken away.

  2. An old road which starts at Grouselodge and leads to Derry going through Moderragh, on the old road to Cloonmone. It is crossed by the new road at Thomas O'Rorke's house through Killadiskert, Tullnarugoo so on till it crosses the Rampart into County Cavan on to Enniskillen and so on to Derry.
    The present public road was started in 1846 as relief work for the poor. The people who worked on the road only got four pence a day.
