    which burned brightly and they all sat around it telling stories. The houses were thatched with rye, rushes or heather. They had no twigs only heather bisims.

  2. In olden times half doors must have been very much used as many songs are composed about the half-door which tell us that they must have been very numerous. They are still used in many places as a protection against fowl entering the kitchen. Half doors were made from timber. Two half doors are in the townland of Killadiskert, one in Killnagarn, three in Corkhill, and one in Derrinvona. They are getting very uncommon.
