    gather in some quiet place, usually a disused house and count the money which is spent either that morning in the nearest pub or the next day in the town. Sometimes the proceeeds are put to buying a football. The Wren song is as follows:
    The Wren, The Wren, The king of all birds
    It was on St Stephen's night she was caught in the furze.
    Though she is small the number is great
    Rise up landlady and give us a treat
    if your treat is small it will not go round on us all
    So up with the kettle and down with the pan
    Give us some money to bury the wren.
