  1. A man named Jim Lonigan who lived in the townland of Killcoosey was a great candle-maker. He made the candles in the following way. First he peeled the rushes and then he boiled them. He then took them out and dried them in the sun. When they were sufficiently dried he cut each one into the shape of a candle. Then he made a hole in the candle with a knitting needle and he dipped a twine in grease and put it down through the candle and then the candle was made.
