- (continued from previous page)ended his life in the workhouse in Ballyshannon. The Local Landlord. George Hewston was the last landlord we had in the manor of Dromahair. It often happened that the tenants were not able to pay their rent. Then the landlord and his men would come and turn them out and burn their houses. Other tenants who were favourites of the landlord would pay the land from which the people were evicted. Once it happened that the people of Dromahair were not able to pay the rent. Then Hewston and his men came and mowed down their stalks
