- Strong men. James O'Rourke, of Gortnatresk is a great lifter. He once carried five cwt, on his back, He is now dead.
William George Ducan of Dark Valley lifted and carried in his arms rail way rails weighing six cwt. He carried three cwt under each arm. Allen Stephenson of Glenboy saw him do this.
Jack Forbes of Gubaderra saw him lift a two horse machine in his arms. Eddie McKenney saw him lift a cwt of meal in teeth.
