  1. One very warm day some short time before our Divine Lord was born St Joseph and the Blessed Virgin were journeying along the road when they saw a cherry bush laden with ripe cherries. Mary was very very thirsty and wished she had some of the fruit to quench her thirst but neither her nor St Joseph were able to reach the fruit as the tree was too high for them. The little infant Jesus then spoke from out His Mother's womb and said
"Let the highest branch bow down
And the lowest branch spring high
    Till Mary pulls cherries
    Till her apron is full"
Immediately the cherry tree did as the unborn child told it and Mary and Joseph after pulling plenty of cherries went on their way.
