  1. Potatoes on the Farms Here
    There is about an acre of land under potatoes each year. The ground is prepared by the plough. The potatoes are sown for seed and the big ones are cut in half. In a couple of weeks clay is put on them. In April the stalks are sprayed with bulestone and washing soda.
    When the farmer is digging the potatoes the children pick them with buckets. The big ones are put in a heap and the small ones are brought home for the hens.
    The potatoes called Aran Banners grow best in this district.
