    On St Brigid's Eve crosses are made from rushes.

    On St. Stephens day the men of countryside go hunting the men + it is said that if people abstain from meat on that day they will not take any disease through out the year.
    On Shrove Tuesday night pancakes are made + it is sometimes called pancake night.
    Chalk Sunday is the Sunday before lent. On that Sunday people mark the old batchelors and old maids with chalk.
    On ash wednesday they used to keep black fasts - milk or eggs was not allowed.
