Old Crafts - Rope-Making

The rope used by the farmer to secure his hay and straw is made form long rough hay called "spatt." This is made by the following, common method - One man releases the sheaves of hay in required length and thickens while a boy or girl used what is called a twister to shape and weave the po rope.
