    Shops were not common in olden times. People made their own food and their own clothes. People sold their own eggs, butter, and milk, and they then got tea, sugar, bacon and many other things in exchange for what they had given.
    Buying and selling was carried on after mass. Pedlers and hucksters went around the country selling clothes and other things.
    They do not come around now because there are shops in every town and people can get what they want.
