  1. Once upon a time there lived in the townland of Scardawn a man named Jimmy Kilday. One summers day he started for Sligo with two firkins of bitter each containing 90 pounds which he carried on his back. He sold the butter in Sligo and walked from there to the Black Lion where there was a fair and bought a cow. He and the cow arrived at home before the sun was set.
