A long time ago when people used to be first buried in Rossinver graveyard the graves used to be dug up every morning. This was going on for a week and the people could not find out what was doing it. One night a crowd of men said they would wait and see what it was. At about nine oclock they set off for the graveyard with guns and big sticks. They waited there until twelve oclock, and they saw an object coming towards them from the direction of Lough Melvin. When it came near it was a long animal about six feet long. It came on to a place in the graveyard where a person was buried. It put its head down in the ground and began to dig up the clay. A few of them came down and one of the men fired a shot but was unable to kill the animal. Some of them had hatchets and sharp irons. They hit the animal and cut him in halves.
