“The name of our townland is Munakill.”
The name of our townland is Munskill.
According to tradition this means the ridge of the Church. My father's farm consists of about seventeen or eighteen acres and it is divides into a number of fields. Every field has a certain name such as the Paddock, the Sour hill, the "Rocks", the Flat field, the School field, the River field, the Simekilm field, and Park bag.
The Paddock is so called because it is behind the house and horse is grazed there. The "Sour hill" is so called because the land is infertile. "The Rocks" is so called because of its rocky surface. The flat field is so called because the land is flat. The school field is so called because it is beside the school. The River field is so called because there is a River running by it. The Limekiln field is so called because there is a Limekiln built on it. Park bug is so called because it is soft.
Carrigeingeare is situated on the right hand side of the road leading from Manorhamilton about three miles east of Manorhamilton. According to tradition this means the sharp, little rocky place.
In this distrct there is a townland called Munakill which means the ridge of the Church-yard. It overlooks the townland and churchyard of Kilmakerril.
Briscloonagh is situated on the right hand side from Manorhamilton and about three and a half miles of the road from Manorhamilton to Enniskellen.(continues on next page)- Collector
